Version 2.0 Software

The Version 2.0 software for the 375 Field Communicator adds great new capabilities to both existing and new 375s. These new capabilities include:

Improved Performance

By utilizing this new version of the Windows CE operating system, a 25% decrease in boot up time is achieved. The time necessary to connect to, and start communicating with, a HART device is also decreased by 35%.

Optimized Power Management

New optimized power management software in the 375 greatly improves battery life in both new and existing 375 units. Because of the importance of this feature to both new and existing customers, the power management and boot time updates will be available to all customers even if they do not currently have the Easy Upgrade option.

Enhanced Graphics Capability

With the release of Version 2.0, the 375 now utilizes enhanced EDDL technology to provide exciting new graphical capabilities. Users are able to display device information using graphical capabilities such as trends, bar charts, gauges, and images. Many of the Rosemount and Fisher hero products now support this capability. The number of supported devices (both Emerson and non-Emerson) is expected to grow. This graphics capability provides significant benefits to users.

FOUNDATION™ fieldbus Improvements

Several significant improvements have been made to the 375’s fieldbus application. In the fieldbus diagnostics, the ability to display the fieldbus signal level for all devices on a segment is provided. A handy MODE button has been added to many of the fieldbus displays to simplify mode changes when changing a block’s parameter. The ability to instantiate FOUNDATION™ fieldbus Function Blocks has also been added in this release.

Prepare for a Quicker Version 2 Update Experience Using an SD Card Reader

With Version 2.0, a newly improved Easy Upgrade program will be released. This new version will support an SD Card Reader (as well as the existing IRDA method). Because of the size of the Version 2.0 release, it is required that this update be performed with an SD Card Reader. SD Card Readers are available at most consumer electronics stores for about $20. One can also be purchased directly from Emerson (Part # 00375-0018-0022). Emerson has qualified the SanDisk SDDR 99, the SanDisk SDDR 33, and the Kingston TravelLite FCR-HS2MMC Card Reader for use with this upgrade.
