A true balance makes it possible to analyze and optimize product yield, decide what and how much catalyst to use, determine conversion, and choose appropriate process feedstocks. Although material balances must be done on a mass basis, often times measurement devices used by refineries measure volume, which is then converted to mass.

Micro Motion flow and density meters measure mass directly, along with providing volume flow, density and temperature measurements all from a single device. By design, Micro Motion meters are highly reliable, non-intrusive, and have no moving parts. At +/-0.05% flow accuracy and +/-0.0002 g/cc density accuracy, no other Coriolis meter offers accuracy to the level of Micro Motion meters.
