Advanced Automation Consulting
The Advanced Applied Technologies (AAT) Team is a multi-discipline team of Senior Consultants that can assist with any process control needs. The most common role of the AAT Team is to define the scope of an advanced automation project and provide economic justification based on information collected onsite. Economic justification consulting typically is performed with 1-3 days onsite per unit depending on the complexity of the plant. Process and lab data is collected including operation objectives. Interviews are conducted with several people onsite (operations, maintenance, process control, commercial engineers, etc) to determine the operational shortfalls and then define the scope of the project. The short time onsite helps minimize the engineer's time during the interviewing process; thus most information analysis takes place offsite. An estimated ROI of +/- 30-40% plus the defined scope of the project are determined based on this initial study. If the project appears to be economically sound, then a recommended FEED study will take place next to narrow the costs associated with the project to +/- 10%. Migration studies help define the recommended action in migrating and modernizing their existing system. Not all recommendations require a full migration to a new system; some recommendations simply require a new layered system with embedded tools to take advantage of better process performance and efficiency.
