 Advanced Control
The Advanced Applied Technologies (AAT) Team utilizes the embedded advanced control tools within the DeltaV system as the primary advanced control system software. The embedded APC tools provide Model Predictive Control (MPC) with an LP Optimizer and Neural Network (inferred measurement) capabilities. These tools are easy to implement and maintain, and significantly less expensive compared to traditional APC applications. In addition, these APC tools can be layered on top of existing legacy systems. MPC
is the most common multi-variable advanced control technology that minimizes control loop interactions, compensates for long time constants, and optimizes (maximize/minimize) certain defined control variables as required.
Recently, the most common APC projects have been intended to reduce energy
costs through improved control. To further improve the efficiency and
cost effectiveness of advanced control implementations, several SmartProcess®
