Micromeritics Brooks
The Story
Carlos Varela is a picky guy.
Carlos is responsible for production engineering at Micromeritics, a world-leading manufacturer of particle characterization instruments. Carlos will trip over particles so small that nobody else would ever see them, even under a microscope. Carlos hates contamination, because even the slightest bit of it can wreak havoc with his delicate instruments, and that can cause serious problems down the line with his customers, and ultimately his company’s reputation. No wonder Carlos is a picky guy.
Brooks Instrument has been supporting Micromeritics with its line of thermal mass flow meters/controllers (MFCs) for over thirteen years; and Cross Instrumentation, Brooks’ rep in Atlanta, has handled the day-to-day relationship for the past ten years. So why does Micromeritics ‘love’ Brooks? According to Carlos: “Performance, reliability, accuracy, stability, and process control.” Simple as that. With the Cross team at the ready, they also benefit from superior support. It’s a terrific team effort that works for Carlos.
At one point in the relationship, Carlos found something inside their Brooks MFCs, something so small nobody else noticed. But because any contamination at all is a potential problem for Carlos’ instruments, he made it his mission to get to the bottom of it. Working with the Brooks Quality team in Hatfield, Carlos was instrumental in helping to locate the source of the microscopic particles and in eliminating the problem altogether.
Since then, Brooks and Cross have teamed up to provide regular training sessions for the engineering staff at Micromeritics, so they always have a thorough and up-to-date understanding of how their MFCs work. In fact, Micromeritics developed a new approach to their plumbing technology, based on the knowledge gained from the trainings. In addition, the Brooks/Cross team is often called upon to assist Micromeritics’ new product development team in finding unique flow solutions for their cutting-edge instrumentation line.
Reliability. Support. Training. A perfect storm of customer satisfaction.
Brooks loves picky guys. Because when the customer is that picky, only Brooks can make the cut.
