New Brunswick Scientific Brooks
Why does New Brunswick Scientific (NBS) ìloveî Brooks? Well, itís really the Brooks / GSI Automation team that NBS appreciates so much. GSI Automation, Brooks Instrumentís local sales agency, provides service levels that are truly far superior to any other company, which has helped NBS speed new product to their customers. And, Brooks loves the support NBS gives in return. NBS recently helped Brooks test a new mass flow controller, facilitating its launch into the marketplace.
The Story
New Brunswick Scientific has been working with Brooks Instrument for over 25 years. Amazingly, they have also been working with Bob Magno from GSI Automation, the local Brooks representative, for over 25 years. Bob first worked with NBS as a Brooks employee during the early 80s. Then, when Bob went out on his own in the mid-1980s, he took over the NBS account.
NBS exclusively specifies Brooks mass flow controllers (MFC) for their BioFloÆ Pro production-scale fermentors because of their reputation in the industry, their accuracy, reliability, and especially because of their excellent control of the customerís process. But itís the attention and service from GSI Automation that really puts the icing on the cake for NBS. ìNo other company responds like Brooks and GSI,î stated Jeff Watkins, at NBS. ìWe have found that GSI supplies us with the high-end service and support that we require." For example, when NBS had an issue with a MFC recently, they simply called Bob at GSI and he drove out the same day to pick up the device. Since GSI Automation also repairs and calibrates Brooks meters at their own site, GSI had it back to NBS within 48 hours.
Gail Dippold at GSI Automation is also a vital part of this relationship. Gail is so tuned into NBSís business that she is able to get orders through in a breeze. Itís this knowledge that makes GSI such an important partner to NBS. According to Jeff, NBS has used a number of flow instrument competitors, and none of them provide the support that the Brooks/GSI team does.
Brooks and Bob Magno value the NBS relationship so much that when Brooks set out to develop a new mass flow controller, they asked the NBS team to provide their input and ongoing product evaluation to help make it the best product possible. Throughout the process, NBS ran trials and provided test data back to Brooks to help fine-tune the productís development and facilitate its launch. With NBSís assistance, the new Model 4850 MFC was introduced to the market in January 2007.
