Overview

 

This course is for maintenance technicians and supervisory personnel responsible for the operation and maintenance of sliding stem or rotary control valves and positioners.

This 3 day course is intended for the maintenance technicians who install, operate and maintain control valves and related valve mounted positioners. This course employs lectures, demonstrations and over 50% of the course content consists of hands-on workshop sessions to explain how valves, actuators and positioners are maintained. Students who successfully complete this course should be able to:

  • correctly perform installation procedures
  • perform basic troubleshooting
  • charge valve trim, gaskets, and packing
  • perform valve lapping properly
  • properly apply & calibrate positioners
  • understand the operation of valves, actuators, and positioners

Prerequisites

Some experience in instrument calibration and in control valve maintenance, installation, and operation would be helpful.
