Overview

 

This course is for engineers and supervisory personnel responsible for the sizing, installation, and operation, of safety and relief valves.

This 2 day course explains how safety and relief valves function and how to size and select the correct valve for given duties and specifications. The course employs lectures, demonstrations and problem solving sessions and is intended for the Engineer who installs and selects these safety devices. Students who successfully complete this course should be able to:

  • Size and select the correct valve for a given application
  • Explain the operation of safety/relief valves
  • Explain the importance of correct adjustments, settings and records
  • Understand installation procedures and be familiar with the codes and practices applicable to safety/relief valves

Prerequisites

A basic understanding of materials and process or one/two years experience in plant operation would be helpful, but not essential.
