Process University Coming Soon
(via Process World by Q2- FY07)
ELC was
launched in September 2001. Since it’s inception we have
made major strides toward moving information and knowledge
faster and more efficiently across Emerson Process
Management worldwide. Along the way ELC has evolved to
include participation from every division, and hundreds of
subject matter experts.
We have
been working on the next generation of learning
management. It will be called “Process University”. It will
replace Emerson Learning Connection as our primary learning
portal. Process University will be easier to use, and have
more functionality! It will support individual learning
plans, degree and certification plans, elearning and
instructor led training, more robust testing, much better
completion tracking and reporting, integration with
PeopleSoft and much more. Please keep your eye out for
upcoming email announcements.
NOTICE: Have you accessed ELC content in the last twelve
months?
Ensure Account Availability....
In an effort to keep ELC accounts current we are deactivating
those accounts where there has been no activity over the last 12
months. If you would like to view content within the ELC
site and
your account has been de-activated you
will need to
register again through ProcessWorld to access the

World Class eLearning DeltaVTM
Operator
Educational Services
is
pleased to announce a new world class eLearning DeltaV
Operator training program to help customers maximize their
investment in PlantWeb technologies and achieve operational
excellence. The DeltaV Operator eLearning curriculum was
designed by professional technologists that are subject
matter experts in DeltaV and adult learning methodologies.
The DeltaV Operator eLearning
solution is a cost effective alternative to traditional
classroom training. This
eLearning medium provides flexibility in scheduling and
individual pacing to assure operators are trained
just-in-time, at the right time. Content includes
interactive “hands-on” to verify operators master
skills. The training can be combined or blended with more
in-depth, advanced, and process specific training.
(Note: No charge for internal users via ELC)

Safety Engineering
Emerson Process Management
Educational Services is pleased to announce the first of many technical
topics and curriculum to be delivered to you over the Web in the next year.
Information and training on the complete Safety Lifecycle,
analysis, implementation, and operation of a Safety Integrated System (SIS),
similar to our classroom offering, is now available to you online! Looking ahead, we also plan to release additional topics including:
DeltaV Operator Training Fundamentals, DeltaV Remote I/O, Fisher Severe
Service Valves, and many other informative and interesting topics that
will keep your knowledge and skills up-to-date.
Two
courses have been created to provide you with information you need to gain
insight into the Safety Engineering aspect of an SIS:
|
Safety Engineering Overview Course #SE101
Audience:
This course is for project managers, supervisors, and team members
who provide supporting roles on a SIS project.
Overview:
SE101 is a 16 hour
on-line course which covers SIS terminology and Safety Lifecycle,
Risk and Probability, Process Hazard Analysis, Risk Analysis, SIL
Determination, Reliability Engineering, SRS and SIS Design, and
Start-up and Operation.
|
Safety Engineering Course #SE201
Audience:
This course is for professionals responsible for specifying and
implementing SIS.
Overview:
SE201 is a 32 hour
on-line course which covers the same materials and includes
exercises to assist professionals with the learning of the course
materials. |
Students will have an
opportunity to communicate with our Subject Matter Experts as needed. Upon
registration the student will be sent the email address of these
individuals. Any questions you have about the course material can be sent
directly to them.
This material can be
accessed by signing in to the Emerson Learning Connection and pulling up the
Education Services folder.
NOTE: If you have
customers who could benefit from a brief introduction to basic SIS concepts,
send them to
www.PlantWebUniversity.com/SIS
. The free courses they’ll find there provide a convenient,
easy-to-understand overview of SIS planning and implementation, and can make
it easier for you to show them the value of our offering.

PlantWeb University
SIS courses
The 11 PlantWeb SIS courses provide a introduction to safety instrumented
systems, from basic concepts and standards to practical tips for planning
and implementation -- so they can know what to expect, what questions to
ask, and what to do to get the reliable, cost-effective, standards-compliant
SIS their operation needs. These courses are not as detailed or rigorous as
the Educational Services SIS Engineering courses, but could serve as an
initial overview of the topic. The same courses are offered to customers at
no charge on
www.PlantWebUniversity.com.
