Fisher Service Company Achieves "Qualified Supplier" Rating within Nuclear Industry

For the fourth consecutive time within a ten-year span, Fisher Service Company of Columbia, South Carolina has passed a Nuclear Procurement Issues Committee audit to continue its rating as a qualified equipment supplier to the U.S. nuclear industry.

The Nuclear Procurement Issues Committee, an alliance representing all of the operating nuclear power plants in the U.S., qualifies nuclear-equipment suppliers through joint or shared audits. In August, 2001 Fisher Service Company passed the NPIC audit at its Columbia location, which certifies the capabilities of that specific valve and instrument repair and supply facility for another two-year period.

Mike McDowell, general manager at the Fisher Service Company in Columbia, stated that his team was, " ready, willing and able to provide control solutions to nuclear power plants nationwide." The FSC facility’s nuclear quality assurance program, implemented in 1988, enables them to manufacture and repair safety-related (non-code ASME Section II) control valve parts and process control equipment according to the requirements of nuclear regulatory codes.

In addition to normal delivery capabilities, the staff at the FSC site can supply express-delivery parts, assemblies and services for all but N-Stamp valves and NPT Parts.
