Diagnostics

Each DLC3000 Series digital level controller continuously runs an automatic diagnostic routine to monitor its own performance.  If a failure in the electronics is detected, the output will drive to a preconfigured output extreme (either 3.75 mA or 21.0 mA).   This indicates that the device is in need of correction.  Similarly, an alarm is set if the DLC3000 detects an error that renders the process variable measurement inaccurate.  If the DLC3000 is giving you incorrect information, it will tell you.

Here is a list of the alerts and alarms that come standard with every DLC3000 Series instrument:

High Alarm High-High Alarm Low Alarm Low-Low Alarm
Process Variable: X X X X
Process Temperature: X   X
Electronics Temperature: X   X

Furthermore, the digital level controller can trend and store process variable, process temperature, or electronics temperature data.  This data can be continuously monitored on line via the HART® protocol.
