Emerson Introduces Compact Fisher® Design D3 On-Off Control Valve for High Pressure Applications

New valve is ideal as dump valve for gas separators and scrubbers

MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA  (November 27,  2006) -- Emerson Process Management introduces the new Fisher® compact  Design D3,  high pressure on-off  control valve—a globe style valve ideal for use as a dump valve on gas separators and scrubbers.  It is also well suited for other high pressure applications in natural gas production, compression, and processing.

The Design D3 FloPro valve is available in 1- and 2-inch Class 900 NPT end connections and 2-inch Class 600 raised face flanged end connections.   With its ENVIRO-SEAL® packing technology, the D3 valve offers a long stem seal life.  Rugged construction details, like heavy-duty valve plug guiding and optional ST (super-tough) Carbide trim, provide a long service life.  Fisher ST Carbide trim is designed specifically for severe service applications.   Low temperature-tolerant materials used in construction allow applications as low as -46° C (-50° F).  The standard trim, valve body, and bonnet meet the metallurgical requirements of NACE MR0175/ISO 15156.

Featuring easy-maintenance, the trim and packing can be maintained by removing the patented deep-bore hammer nut and lifting the actuator/bonnet assembly off the valve without disassembling the actuator.   Pins mounted in the valve bonnet body help ensure the bonnet disengages from the valve body as the hammer nut is loosened, while the threads are still engaged.  This allows internal pressure to be vented, while keeping the actuator retained to the valve body.

Adjustment of the flow capacity without changing the trim is field selectable.  A single trim set can be used for more than one flow requirement, reducing inventory and maintenance cost.

The new Design D3 valve compliments three other recent oil and gas control equipment introductions from Emerson, including: the Design D4 valve for throttling control applications; the Type D2 control valve for on-off dump applications; and the Type L2 liquid level controller for high pressure liquid level applications.
