100,000th
FIELDVUE® Digital Valve Controller Sets Industry Milestone
Chevron Pascagoula Refinery Receives Commemorative Unit
MARSHALLTOWN, IA, July, 1999 . . . . ., The Pascagoula refinery of Chevron
Products Company has received the commemorative 100,000th FIELDVUE Digital
Valve Controller, marking a milestone in the number of units sold, worldwide, within the
processing industries.
Chevron
Products Company representatives received the commemorative unit at the Fisher
Controls R.A. Engel engineering center in Marshalltown, Iowa, during ceremonies
which were held to acknowledge the landmark achievement. The FIELDVUE DVC revolutionized the automated control valve
market when introduced in 1993. It was the first digitally based instrument designed
specifically for process control valves. Today it is the most widely applied valve
controller of its kind, worldwide, and is utilized within virtually every processing
industry. Ed Merwald, Fisher Controls vice president of international sales,
presented the commemorative 100,000th unit to the Chevron executives and
recognized Chevron as an early adopter of technology. He characterized Chevron as being
not only a leading worldwide petroleum and chemical company, but also as being the leader
in applying new technologies.
Receiving the 100,000th FIELDVUE unit on behalf of Chevron were
Lyle Ask, CRTC Manager of Process Automation, and Aubrey Hammons, the I&E Reliability
Team Leader at the Chevron Pascagoula refinery.
Greater Efficiency, Profitability
"Nothing gives us greater satisfaction than seeing the
FIELDVUE Digital Valve Controller at work, " Merwald explained. "Thats
where the big payoff occurs, when we see our customers plants operating more
efficiently and profitably, thanks to FIELDVUE Instruments. "
"In fact, the FIELDVUE controller is bringing the future of
process control to our customers, today, by providing an entrée to PlantWeb® field-based
architecture," Merwald continued. "PlantWeb provides new freedom to our
customers, such as Chevron, in how they design their processes and where they put
functionality. It introduces new ways to operate, maintain, and expand their operations,
which results in revolutionary savings and a distinct competitive advantage."
