ISA Tech 1999 Chooses FloVue Final
Control System for Innovators Center
MARSHALLTOWN,
IOWA, August, 1999 . . . . . ISA TECH 1999, the international forum for advancing
measurement and control technologies, has selected the Fisher FloVue final control
system to be one of 30 featured products in its Innovators Center.
The Innovators Center, a featured area within
the ISA TECH 1999 exhibit venue, highlights new technologies and products. An independent
technical review committee made the Innovator Center selections, judging each product on
its specific application, technology features, and ultimate benefit to industry users.
The FloVue system is a technologically advanced
control valve package that combines new and unique actuator technology, the FIELDVUE®
Digital Valve Controller, and a selection of globe valves into a systems approach to
process control. As a result of its three-component design, this new final control system
fits most application demands, is easy to install, provides real-time valve operating
information and is cost-efficient to maintain.
Unique Actuating
Technology
The FloVue Final Control System introduces
"moving-cylinder" actuating technology, which is a radical departure from any
valve operating technique available today.
At the heart of the actuator system is a unique
power module that utilizes a "moving cylinder" principle of operation. This
innovative design, which is now available in three sizes to allowing close matching to
application needs, provides a valve operating technique that combines power with
compactness.
Integrated Instrumentation
The integrally-mounted FIELDVUE Digital Valve
Controller together with ValveLink Series VL2000 software makes real-time valve
operating information instantly available, letting operators fine-tune process conditions
for improved plant performance and efficiencies.
Two-way digital communications with the FIELDVUE
controller via the HART protocol, allows remote instrumentation and valve checkout.
Valve commissioning is faster and safer because procedures can be performed off the plant
floor.
Easy Installation
Lightweight and compact, the FloVue Final
Control System greatly reduces the effort needed for valve installation and is safer to
handle. The compact design of the overall package envelope proves ideal for applications
where space is a premium.
Integral mounting of the FIELDVUE Instrument
means no output tubing, no exposed linkages and no mounting brackets. As a result,
installation time and costs are greatly reduced compared to conventional valve
configurations.
Reduced Maintenance
Each of the three major components--digital
controller, power module and valve body--has a minimum number of parts, and since the
power module has no seals to maintain, overall maintenance requirements are greatly
reduced.
Corrosion-resistance is provided by anodized
aluminum and stainless steel materials plus polyester powder paint. All valve body
constructions incorporate quick change trim for fast inspection and reinstallation,
further reducing maintenance requirements.
The FIELDVUE digital controller provides
self-calibration and diagnostic capabilities. It allows comparing valve/actuator
signatures with those previously stored to determine if maintenance is needed. Field-tough
packaging survives high vibration levels better than traditional instrumentation.
Innovation
The FloVue system was designed as a result of
Fisher engineers efforts to provide cost-effective solutions. It substantially
reduces valve size and weight, provides component integration and features a unique valve
actuating technique and component mounting.
