Fisher Opens Control Valve Manufacturing Plant in Malaysia to Support Growing Asia-Pacific Market
Established primarily as a rapid-response manufacturing location for Asia-Pacific customers, the Nilai facility produces globe valves, rotary ball valves, level transmitters, and valve actuators. From Nilai, these control products are delivered to end-users in such key industries as oil & gas production, refining, petrochemical, chemical, pulp & paper and food & beverage. According to Dan Button, Vice President for Fisher Controls in Asia Pacific, the Nilai location was chosen due to its available skilled workforce and strong supplier base. Other significant advantages are the close proximity to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Port Klang, Selangor, as well as the availability of supporting services in Kuala Lumpur. A global team of Fisher manufacturing, quality assurance and materials experts has trained Nilai personnel in all aspects of control valve manufacturing. Also, a quality assurance system has been established to qualify for ISO 9002 standards, which is scheduled for certification in early 2000. The Nilai operation draws on Fisher’s global resources to secure the best possible raw materials, while all valve parts are laser-marked to establish authenticity and to denote the high degree of built-in quality. Each control valve assembly from the Nilai plant is certified to Fisher’s worldwide standards and undergoes Signature Testing to benchmark its operating performance.
