Being responsible for a production, process or transportation facility, you will
be well aware of the importance of ensuring that your plant balances and that
export quantities, import quantities or allocations are properly accounted for.
Under measure and you could be giving away valuable product and hence profit.
Over measure and you short change your customers, potentially damaging your
reputation. There may also be tax implications; either positive or negative.
For those companies and individuals operating in countries affected by the
Sarbanes-Oxley act of 2002 there may be serious implications resulting from
mis-measurement; at best resulting in financial penalties and at worst long
jail sentences.
As a senior manager or executive, you may not need to know all the technical
details of how you measure your throughput, allocations or balances. However,
you do want to rest assured that your measurement uncertainties are optimised;
your systems, procedures, operations and maintenance comply with partner and
regulatory authority agreements and that you can demonstrate compliance and
transparency. In short you want to be able to sleep at night.
You need a company that you can trust and rely upon to make sure all of these
eventualities are covered. That company is Emerson.
