Emerson Expands It's Range of Micro Motion
High Capacity Coriolis Meters
Micro Motion® ELITE® High Capacity Coriolis offers
superior liquid and gas measurement performance at
exceptionally high flow rates
BOULDER,
COLORADO (April 21, 2009) – Emerson Process Management
announces the expansion of its high flow capacity Micro
Motion® ELITE® Coriolis meter offering to cover 6”-8” line
sizes, adding to the existing 8”-10” line size capability.
The family of Micro Motion ELITE High Capacity meters is
ideal for fiscal custody transfer, in addition to liquid and
gas measurement in challenging, high flow applications.
Because of the fluctuation in crude oil, fuel oil, natural
gas, ethylene, and other hydrocarbons market demand, users
in fiscal transfer applications are striving for reliable,
accurate measurement over wide flow ranges to reduce costs.
Emerson’s range of Micro Motion Coriolis meters are ideally
suited for liquid hydrocarbons, delivering ±0.10% mass and
volume flow accuracy and ±0.0005 g/cc density accuracy and
also for natural gas delivering mass accuracy of ± 0.35%.
These accuracies are maintained over the highest turndown of
any single flowmeter available today.
When transferring crude oil or other hydrocarbons in custody
transfer applications, the importance of system reliability
is paramount. While, in the past, custody transfer systems
have used turbine or positive displacement (PD) flow meters
to make flow measurements, users now recognize that
eliminating rotating components within measurement systems
is a best practice leading to higher reliability. With no
moving parts, Emerson’s Micro Motion Coriolis meters are not
subject to the wear or performance drift that the rotating
components of a PD or turbine experience over time.
Micro Motion ELITE High Capacity Coriolis meters deliver
unmatched performance for measurement applications ranging
from 6” (DN150) to 10” (DN250) process connections. The
meters can handle a maximum liquid flow capacity of 94,000
lb/min (2,550,000 l/h / 21,700 bbl/h / 2,550 m3/h), typical
gas flow rate of 196,000 scfm of natural gas, and standard
pressure ratings to 1,480 psi (102 bar). The Micro Motion
sizing program can provide specific information on any
application including accuracy, turndown, pressure drop and
flow velocity based on the properties of the fluid to be
measured.
ELITE High Capacity Coriolis meters have been tested with
crude oil and other liquid and gas hydrocarbons in
accordance with American Petroleum Institute (API) and
American Gas Association (AGA) procedures. They have been
approved by the European Measuring Instrument Directive
2004/22/EC (MID) for gas meters (Annex MI-002) and liquids
other than water (Annex MI-005) by the internationally
respected Dutch metrology institute NMI.
Micro Motion Coriolis flowmeters lead the process
manufacturing industry in quality, measurement performance,
and reliability, and are part of Emerson's broad range of
intelligent, digital field devices that power the PlantWeb®
digital plant architecture. Further cost savings, increased
plant availability, and enhanced safety and environmental
compliance are achieved when the flowmeters are integrated
into the PlantWeb digital plant architecture.
