Micro Motion Series 3000 Transmitters and Discrete Controllers

Micro Motion® Series 3000 electronics combine Coriolis transmitter functions and PLC capabilities in one instrument. Four models of Series 3000 transmitter/controllers feature different combinations of functionality to suit a wide variety of process control applications.

Series 3000 transmitter/controllers provide discrete process control for batch applications, advanced density analyses, net oil measurement, custody transfer security, and more. Transmitter functionality includes highly accurate Coriolis flow, density, and temperature measurement — in a single device. With all this performance, Series 3000 transmitter/ controllers deliver significant increases in capability at a cost-effective price.

For applications that require only simple valve closures or alarms, select a model with discrete control functions only. When also measuring and displaying process parameters, choose a discrete controller with an integrated transmitter. When your needs change, adding transmitter functionality to a controller you already own is easy.

Because Series 3000 transmitter/controllers combine the functionality of several instruments, you can decrease your plant's labor, maintenance, and operating costs while increasing efficiency, accelerating throughput, and improving product quality.

In many cases, an application that might otherwise require density meters, temperature detectors, refractometers, or other peripheral instruments can be simplified with a single device — a Series 3000 transmitter/controller. Series 3000 electronics take care of all your measurement needs, automatically, and with no maintenance. Manual calculations, estimations, and additional laboratory testing are no longer necessary.

Micro Motion works closely with a number of international standards organizations to provide solutions for many common processes. Process curves, such as the one below, are developed by Micro Motion and entered into Series 3000 memory, either at the Micro Motion factory or at your site. The Series 3000 open architecture allows you to enter your own proprietary process curve data, easily and accurately.

Micro Motion has developed process curve data for many proprietary fluids. You benefit through Micro Motion’s comprehensive understanding of the process variables that affect the accuracy of these measurements.

POINT-OF-PROCESS CONTROL

Series 3000 transmitter/controllers allow you to efficiently and effectively optimize your unique process control needs. Series 3000 electronics are the perfect solution for point-of-process applications that require accurate process indication and focused PLC capabilities.

Configuration, operation, and maintenance are all accomplished using the innovative Series 3000 user interface. The interface features an easy to use, oversized, backlit display with large, tactile-feedback pushbuttons. Other user interfaces, such as hand-held communication devices, are not required.

Each Series 3000 device can simultaneously support up to three applications, and functionality can be added to support your changing requirements. The Series 3000 architecture was designed to be flexible for easy field upgrades. Series 3000 electronics include the ability to upload new software for additional or future applications, and the capacity to accept new hardware as it becomes available.

Process monitor and totalizer All Micro Motion Series 3000 discrete controllers and transmitter/controllers provide process monitoring for multiple variables, including Coriolis mass flow, volume flow, density, and temperature. Process monitoring and transmitter totalizer control is built into the electronics.

Discrete batch control Discrete batch control is easy with Micro Motion Series 3000 discrete controllers and transmitter/ controllers. Batch control includes these functions:

  • Configuration of up to six preset batch recipes
  • One-stage or two-stage batch control
  • End-of-batch warning and batch-overrun alarms
  • Configuration by quantity or by percent of target for primary valve closure, secondary valve opening and closure, end warning, and batch overrun
  • Configuration for target lockout, or for target adjustment during batch operation

Discrete batch control provides one more unique feature, automatic overshoot compensation. AOC monitors and automatically adjusts flow rate to account for valve closure time, reducing setup time and maintenance costs.

Enhanced density Series 3000 electronics are unique in their ability to provide enhanced density solutions for a number of applications, including:

  • %HFCS, °Brix, °Plato, °Balling; °Baumé at SG60/60
  • Density at reference temperature
  • Specific gravity
  • Concentration derived from reference density
  • Concentration derived from specific gravity

Net oil The Series 3000 Net Oil Computer is the perfect answer for your crude oil applications. The Series 3000 NOC provides:

  • Well-performance measurement
  • Group production, continuous measurement
  • Oil and water density determination
  • Transient bubble remediation (TBR)
  • Backflow totalizers and compensation

Custody transfer
Series 3000 transmitter/controllers are exceptionally well-suited for custody transfer applications such as ship, truck, and railcar loading and unloading. Combining custody transfer with discrete batch control ensures accurate delivery while documenting product quality data. This provides the ultimate legal trade accuracy for product deliveries. The custody transfer application features:

  • Physical and software security
  • Security-alarm posting
  • Mass or volume totalizer that can be configured by the user
  • Custom formatting of receipt tickets
  • Multidrop printing capability

DESIGNED TO FIT YOUR NEEDS

Four models of Series 3000 electronics, plus an optional relays accessory, provide various combinations of functionality to fit your application needs. Features are compared on the opposite page.

Each Series 3000 device can run up to three applications simultaneously. New hardware and software functionality can be added as it becomes available.

Model 3300 discrete controller The Model 3300 discrete controller provides measurement and control functions based on input from external devices.

Model 3350 field-mount discrete controller The Model 3350 discrete controller features the same functionality as the Model 3300, in a field-mount enclosure that meets area classifications worldwide.

Model 3500 transmitter/controller The Model 3500 discrete controller with integrated transmitter uses Micro Motion Coriolis technology for flow and density measurement to provide application solutions capabilities.

Model 3700 field-mount transmitter/controller The Model 3700 discrete controller with integrated transmitter features the same functionality as the Model 3500, in a field-mount enclosure that meets area classifications worldwide.
