Emerson Introduces New pH Sensor with pHaser™ Reference Technology for Accurate and Stable Measurement in Low-conductivity Water

Rosemount® Analytical Model 3200HP is easier to start up and maintain

IRVINE, Calif., March 2006 — Emerson Process Management today introduced the all new Rosemount® Analytical Model 3200HP pH sensor with pHaser™ flowing reference technology. The open capillary junction addresses two major challenges in measuring pH in modern steam power plants: measurement offset and drift. The laser-drilled capillary ensures a constant flow of reference electrolyte, resulting in highly accurate pH readings and extremely low drift.

The Model 3200HP is specifically designed for the accurate and stable measurement of pH in condensate, boiler feedwater and boiler water applications typical in steam electric power plants. Low maintenance requirements for the Model 3200HP contribute to a low total cost of ownership, entailing little more than refilling the reference electrolyte every three months. Initial start-up of the sensor is fast and easy and the pHaser capillary junction is simple to replace without the use of special tools.

The Model 3200HP uses a combination glass and reference electrode with an integral temperature sensor. A stainless steel thermowell ensures rapid response to temperature changes and serves as a solution ground to protect against noise. Further noise protection is afforded by shielding at the glass electrode. A 500 mL reservoir holds the reference electrolyte and provides the head pressure to push electrolyte through the capillary junction. A quick-disconnect Variopol connector makes replacing the sensor fast and easy.

“With its innovative design, the Rosemount Analytical Model 3200HP leads the industry in accuracy, simplified maintenance requirements, low total cost of ownership and durability, and further demonstrates Emerson’s leadership in instrument technology for the power industry,” commented John Wright, vice president of marketing, Rosemount Analytical Liquid Division of Emerson Process Management.

The industry-leading diagnostics and advanced communications capabilities of Rosemount Analytical liquid analyzers are key components of Emerson’s PlantWeb® digital plant architecture that delivers operating efficiency improvement.
