Emerson’s Rosemount division, a global leader in the design and manufacture of precision measurement and control instrumentation for the process industries, has an exciting career opportunity as a Database Systems Administrator based at our Chanhassen, MN location.
Primary responsibilities:
Maintain and administer a proprietary database system in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Systems are production dependant, replicated off-site in real-time.
Design software to interface with, and utilize a production database system. This includes helping to design and write production software in a manufacturing environment.
Mentor and provide leadership in software design techniques and methodologies using the CMMI/TSPi software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities include:
Administrating Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server databases in a replicated environment.
Programming in .NET/C#, VB6 (for legacy project conversions), Perl, PHP, and Transact SQL.
Working within Microsoft Windows, Sun Microsystems (Solaris), and Linux operating systems.
Administrating Apache/Linux servers and Microsoft Windows (IIS, TFS, SharePoint).
Working with a manufacturing engineering user community to design and develop new software.
Occasional late-night and weekend support.
Candidate must be a good problem solver, inventive, self-motivated, a leader, and be able to build good peer relationships. Candidate will be responsible for supervising a small team of 3-4 developers and administrators.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must possess a BS in Engineering or Computer Science and have 5+ years of related experience in systems administration and/or software design. UNIX and database/SQL experience required. Must be highly motivated and assertive, and have good communication skills. Some supervision/management experience preferred.
