Description of FIM 3420 Setup Disc Contents
                  

If you wish to install the FIM 3420 support software on your PC and it did not 
start automatically when you inserted this CDROM, run the program autorun.exe on 
this CDROM.

If you are looking for the FIM 3420 documentation, it is located in the
"3420 reference manual" directory. If you run the installation on this CDROM, 
the manual will be installed on your PC.

Most of the files on this CDROM are used by the FIM 3420 setup program and will
be installed on your PC automatically, depending on the features you select
during installation. The exception to this is the "fieldbus device descriptions" 
directory. It contains a library of support files for Foundation Fieldbus 
devices that can used to supplement the device support files preloaded on the
3420. The following is an overview of the files on this CDROM:


3420 configuration tools utility	Contains the tool to save, restore and
                                        clear configurations ot the FIM 3420.
                                        The FIM 3420 setup program will normally 
                                        install this utility on your PC, but it
                                        can be run directly from this CDROM as
                                        well.

3420 reference manual                   Contains the FIM 3420 reference manual 
                                        in pdf (Adobe Acrobat) format. The FIM 
                                        3420 setup program will normally install 
                                        this manual on your PC.

adobe acrobat reader                    Contains the Adobe Acrobat Reader 
                                        installer. If necessary, the FIM 3420 
                                        setup program will install this reader 
                                        to provide access to the 3420 reference 
                                        manual. This installer can be run 
                                        manually if desired to view the FIM 3420 
                                        manual. A more current version of the 
                                        reader can be obtained from the Adobe 
                                        web site: http://www.adobe.com
                                
fieldbus device descriptions            Contains a library of device descriptors 
                                        for Foundation Fieldbus devices. These 
                                        descriptors can be loaded as needed on 
                                        the FIM 3420 when devices are connected 
                                        to the 3420. The 3420 is preloaded with 
                                        a selection of commonly used device 
                                        descriptions. Additional device 
                                        descriptions and more current versions 
                                        can be obtained from device 
                                        manufacturers and from the Fieldbus 
                                        Foundation web site:

internet explorer 6.0 sp1               Contains the Microsoft Internet Explorer 
                                        installer. If necessary, the FIM 3420 
                                        setup program will install Interner 
                                        Explorer to support the FIM 3420 user 
                                        interface. This installer can be run 
                                        manually if desired. A more current 
                                        version of Internet Explorer can be 
                                        obtained at the Microsoft web site:
                                        http://www.microsoft.com or downloaded 
                                        via the Windows Update manager.
                                
java runtime 1.5.0_06                   Contains the Sun Java runtime installer. 
                                        If necessary, the FIM 3420 setup program 
                                        will install Java to support the FIM 
                                        3420 user interface. This installer can 
                                        be run manually if desired. A more 
                                        current version of Java can be obtained 
                                        from the Sun website:

net framework 1.1                       Contains the Microsoft .NET Framework 
                                        installer. If necessary, the FIM 3420 
                                        setup program will install this 
                                        framework to support the FIM 3420
                                        utility programs. This installer can be 
                                        run manually if desired.
