Want to Reduce Temperature
Measurement Error?
The Rosemount Model 3144 and 3244MV Temperature Transmitters provide a highly accurate
temperature measurement through transmitter-sensor matching.
- Transmitter-Sensor Matching
Model 3144 and 3244MV Transmitters accept Callendar-Van Dusen constants, generated
from a specific RTDs calibration data, to create a special custom curve to match the
sensors specific resistance vs. temperature behavior over any temperature range.
- Temperature error due to sensor interchangeability
Approximately 75% of all temperature measurement point inaccuracy is caused by sensor
interchangeability error.
- Eliminate Sensor Interchangeability Error
By using Callendar-Van Dusen constants to generate customized RTD curves for each
sensor, the Model 3144 and 3244MV Temperature Transmitters eliminate sensor
interchangeability error.

One example of how this temperature error reduction saves the customer money is a fuel
oil/gasoline cutpoint process:
$165,000 per year Savings
In a typical fuel oil/gasoline cut point process unit that averages 100,000 BBL/day in
the summer, each 0.6 0C in sensor error translates into a
0.1% reduction in yield. Error in the temperature measurement can be reduced by 1.3 0C using transmitter-sensor matching, available in the 3144 and
3244MV, resulting in savings of $165,000 per year.
