CHANHASSEN, MN (February 4, 2003) - Emerson Process Management announces the addition of a new Rosemount® Model 248 Temperature Monitoring Assembly that enables users to purchase a ready-to-install complete temperature point, resulting in lower engineering and installation costs. This assembly includes a Smart head mount temperature transmitter with connection head, sensor, thermowell, and extension in a single, easy-to-order model number. The 248 is designed with the high quality standards of the Rosemount brand.

The Rosemount Model 248 provides reliable temperature measurement for all monitoring applications. The transmitter communicates using the open HART^® protocol and has user selectable RTD and thermocouple inputs. The small, industry standard DIN form B size transmitter offers mounting flexibility for installation in any connection head. In addition, the transmitter is designed to perform in tough industrial electromagnetic environments and meets the stringent NAMUR NE21 Recommendation.

The Rosemount 248 also meets the NAMUR NE 43 Recommendation for breakdown information of a digital transmitter and NAMUR NE 89 Recommendation for measuring temperature with a digital transmitter. The 248 is one of a broad family of Emerson intelligent components that power the PlantWeb® digital plant architecture, including the providing of performance information to the AMS predictive maintenance software within PlantWeb.
