WATER
TREATMENT PROJECT Brazos Power Station in south metropolitan
Houston is a new power plant. The water treatment process and systems serving
this plant were designed by Paterson Candy NA. Emerson Process Management's Overland
Park Office lead the effort to provide a comprehensive Control System as well
as a majority of the process skid packages. The Control System utilized
a PLC platform and HMI Package by Allen-Bradley. The entire Water Treatment Plant
is controlled and operated from a single PLC and Operator Station located on the
plant floor. Emerson's scope included a number of critical items:
- Engineering
and Design of (11) Process Skids. This included both mechanical and Electrical
Engineering disciplines.
Fabrication of the skids in our FABCON shop, located
in St. Louis.
- Development of the Plant's Control System philosophy in
conjunction with Paterson Candy NA.
- Design, Configuration, and Supply
of the PLC-based Control System.
- Design and Supply of all the instrumentation
associated with the Water Treatment Systems.
- Engineering, Design and Supply
of all the Variable Speed Drives packaged in Electrical Panels fabricated in our
FABCON shop.
- Startup and Commissioning Services for all of our scope of
supply.
The expanded Scope of Supply proved to be extremely beneficial
to the overall projects' success. Being involved in basically all aspects of the
Plant's critical systems allows us to keep to schedule and maintain continuity
between disciplines.
