Equipment Design Emerson Process Management Rises to the Challenge Jelly
Applicator Redesign Emerson Process Management provided an extensive
redesign of equipment that deposited jelly onto pastry squares, in an on-line
process that created 1000 pastries per minute, eleven at a time. The new
design deposited two flavors of jelly simultaneously to a sheet of pastry dough,
whereas the existing equipment was able to handle just one flavor of jelly. An
additional requirement was that the new design ensure that the downstream baking
processes, the former and cutting roll areas, could continue as before with no
modifications required. In addition to meeting the technical requirements
of this job, Emerson Process Management incorporated enhancements that provided
for quick change overs, meaning less waste and less downtime. Translating into
a competitive advantage for the bakery company. Cookie Dough Extruder
Design Emerson Process Management provided a machine design that would
allow the bakery company to produce cookies for the first time. The extruder design
formed two streams of dough from a single source of supply into large, thick dough
shapes, and provided for manual “on the run” thickness adjustment. The design
parameters for this equipment would allow each extruded stream of dough to be
cut in 6” lengths timed to conveyor speed and tray position. This project
was completed ahead of schedule and within budget. The President of the
bakery company was so thrilled with the results that he awarded the Emerson Process
Management Project Engineer with an accommodation for a job well done. Back to Success Stories |
