Beer
Release - Packaging Modernization The modernization involved
four Bottle Lines, three Can lines and one Keg Line. Emerson Process Management
provided the necessary FIX 6.0 application programming and associated PLC-5 programming
to allow Filler operators to select brands, change brands, query availability
of releasable brands. Provided real-time production scheduling information
to plant floor operators from Sybase SQL servers via Intellution FIX 6.0. Allowed
for operators to upload revised production schedules based on real-time beer
brand and packaging system availability. Programmed PLCs, developed FIX
applications for Filler workstations, including SQL queries against Sybase database
to download production scheduling information. Integration and programming primarily
involved the Bottle Line, Can Line and Keg Line Fillers. First bottle line
to be implemented was monitored for its performance for two weeks, with minor
features ironed out and enhancements developed. Then each of the other seven packaging
lines was rolled out over the next several weeks. Project was completed
on time, within budget, with several quality enhancements provided that were not
part of the original scope. Back to Success Stories | |
