PIMS
Implementation at Brewery Provided necessary FIX 6.0 application
programming and associated PLC-5 programming to integrate plant floor controls
with corporate WAN system architecture. Coordinated programming efforts with Sybase
database programmers. Programmed PLCs, developed FIX applications for typically
six or more operator workstations, with several additional Human Machine Interfaces.
PLC programming was written to determine and characterize causes of equipment
downtime. FIX applications integrated SQL commands against Sybase database
to download production scheduling information, identifying all required packaging
materials for quality control purposes. Allowed for operators to modify
current schedules to minimize changeovers and improve productivity based upon
availability of beer from Brewing, availability of packaging materials and/or
packaging equipment. Downtime and the associated cause for downtime was
uploaded to Sybase from FIX for automated shift reports. Core PLC programs
and FIX applications were tailored for each Bottle Line or Can Line in order to
implement the Production Information and Management System (PIMS) as described.
Projects were rolled out on schedule, going "Live" within the
scheduled timeframe. Back to Success Stories |
