Emerson Process Management is a single source of expertise in
all technologies related gas processing automation and information systems. Our
skills uniquely encompass the entire path of data flow, from the plant process
and instrumentation through to the corporate computer network. Our areas of proficiencies
include: - Industrial process economics, design, operations management,
and risk management for oil and gas production fields and facilities
- Instrumentation
and controls, ranging from control valves and pneumatic end devices to programmable
microprocessor-based devices
- Measurement and analysis of gas, liquids,
and solids for custody transfer, product accounting, modeling, and control applications
- Electrical
power, including substations, plant power distribution, motor control, emergency
and standby generation, and uninterruptible power
- SCADA systems
for control and management of oil and gas production fields
- Programmable
controllers (PLC) for control of plants, remote terminal units, and data collection
- Distributed
control systems (DCS) for control of gas processing plants
- Control
centers and operations management centers, for the most effective integration
of human resources, process control, and information
- Applications software
for process modeling, multi-variable control, real-time accounting, energy management,
training simulation, and other applications

and maintenance support of all of the above subsystem
Western
Canada, one of the richest sulfur-producing areas in the world, produces over
15,000 metric tons per day of petroleum-derived sulfur, and has over 60 sulfur
recovery plants with a combined sulfur production design capacity of over 30,000
metric tons per day. Emerson Process Management has performed the instrumentation
and control system engineering through startup on many of those plants, ranging
from 10 metric tons per day to 3,000 metric tons per day. Emerson Process Management
expertise includes: - Two stage and three stage Claus process
- Super
Claus process
- Scot tailgas cleanup process
- Sulfreen process
- MCRC
process
- ELSE process
- Implementation of pressure- and temperature-compensated
air to acid gas ratio control
- Implementation of air demand analyzers
for control of air trim valves or, on small plants, biasing the air/acid gas ratio
- Stoichiometric
control of reheat burners in the first, second, and third reaction stages of sulfur
plants
- Burner management for reaction furnaces and reheat burners
In
addition to sulfur recovery control system expertise, Emerson Process Management
has considerable expertise in related areas including: - Sour gas
and H2S safety and shutdown systems
- Sulfur loading control and measurement
- Sour
gas pipeline monitoring, control, leak detection, and safety shutdown
- Sour
gas well production monitoring and control
