Brief Description of Duties / Minimum Requirements: This position is based in Atlanta, GA, and relocation assistance is available. The I&E Engineer will support the efforts of PEMO on projects executed from Atlanta. Anticipated travel is 50%+. Knowledge and experience of the Pulp and Paper, Mining, Industrial Boilers & Energy, and or the Metals Industry is a plus.
A BS degree plus 14 years related experience is required; or BS Engineering (BSEE or BSChE) plus 8 years related experience, or MS Engineering plus 6 years related experience required. PE is highly desirable.
6-8 years of E&I work experience on control systems/DCS/PLCs for projects:
- Must have field experience, and be interested in working in plant environments
- Control system/DCS/automation/instrumentation projects that contained system definition & architecture, instrument index, control system database, control room design, control system configuration, control system power & grounding, panels/skids/RIEs, PLC integration, safety system integration, field device integration, FAT, site construction, SAT, commissioning, and start-up
- Both FEED studies and implementation project experience
- Both grass-roots and control system upgrades project experience
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience working for a DCS supplier, local systems integrator, or EPC is desired
- Excellent technical knowledge of electrical & instrumentation in plants mostly associated with control systems & PLCs
- Ability to walk-down plants and estimate E&I efforts for control system and instrumentation upgrades
- Ability to manage scope and meet project schedules
- Ability to develop and coordinate construction packages
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team at any level, and to achieve results through influencing without authority (teamwork)
- Excellent with customer interface and customer communications; must be able to build and sustain customer relationships
- Organized, with good attention to detail
- Must be able to convey a professional image with customers
- Demonstrated ability to lead E&I teams a plus
Electrical Engineers additional focus:
- Control system hardware specs
- Power, heat, UPS specs
- IT, servers, routers, cables/cabling for IT and control networks
- Intrinsic Safety, non-incendive circuits, IS barriers
- Grounding techniques
- Bus technologies, power supplies, power conditioning, bricks, etc.
- Ff electrical/signaling; Ff segment design
- ProfibusDP, DeviceNet, AS-i bus
- Control room layout, cables, fiber optics
- telecom, any satellite or microwave
- motor sizing, bucket sizing
- MCCs
Instrument Engineers additional focus:
- control valve applications and specs
- on/off valve applications and specs
- transmitter applications and specs
- P&ID walkdowns
- P&IDs
- Loop schematics
- INtools & database imports into DeltaV
- Ff devices/connectivity
- hot cutovers of instruments
