Brief Description of Duties / Minimum Requirements: The Process Automation Software Engineer will be based at division headquarters located in Austin, Texas, in our Software Product Engineering group. Occasional travel (up to 6-8 trips/yr.) to customer sites or training assignments locally and in Manila is anticipated.
The Process Automation Software Engineer will be a key contributor to the future development and automation of services which allow Emerson to improve delivery of support to our customers and expand our SureService portfolio. Responsibilities include working directly with customers, Emerson Technical Support and development engineers on technical solutions to DeltaV applications. Ideally, the Process Automation Software Engineer will be able to take a technical lead role on some projects. Your success in this role will be based on your demonstrated skills and experience, including:
- 4 years experience with technical software projects including project leadership, project requirements, design, test and analysis documentation
- 4 years experience with software/database design, implementation and integration
- Experience and ability to work directly with an end user to resolve system issues on a running process
- Experience and ability to interface effectively with customers and other departments within Emerson Process Management
- Experience and ability to be a creative problem solver
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with multiple areas from the following list:
- C#
- VC++
- VB.Net
- VB
- VBScript
- PERL
- Windows Services
- Web Services
- ASP
- SQL
Strongly preferred experience:
- Background with Process Control implementation/design
- SQL Server Maintenance and Administration
- Windows XP/2003/Vista Installation & Configuration
- Windows XP/2003/Vista Administration
- Knowledge of DeltaV control systems is desired
