Brief Description of Duties / Minimum Requirements: This position is located in Austin, Texas. Relocation assistance is available. Travel is expected to be less than 20%. Travel may be international.
The successful candidate will:
- Understand the competitive landscape as it relates to DeltaV alarm capabilities and extend our leadership in Abnormal Situation Prevention (ASP) by identifying both short-term sustaining technology projects and long-term disruptive technology projects.
- Develop functional requirements specifications / direction statements for our alarm management products and provide marketing leadership (i.e. guidance, direction, and oversight) to the technology organization during the execution of these projects.
- Ensure that customer functional, robustness, and ease-of-use requirements are understood and met in the design and development of our products.
- Understand the value the Emerson organization provides by delivering these products and ensure that they are licensed in a manner that allows us to capture the value.
- Be a DeltaV "ease-of-use" champion.
- Ensure that ease-of-use issues are considered and addressed in all DeltaV alarm development projects.
- Provide leadership to ensure that Emerson is recognized as the leading supplier of Abnormal Situation Prevention (ASP) products and solutions.
- Ensure that DeltaV is recognized as an enabler for our customers to more easily and cost effectively address alarm management guidelines and best practices such as EEMUA 191.
- Ensure that Emerson Process Management is represented in the development of automation and control standards related to alarm management such as ISA SP18.
- Develop product launch / introduction promotional plans and associated marketing collateral (e.g. product data sheets, brochures, sales guides, videos) to ensure the successful differentiation of the DeltaV alarm capabilities in the marketplace.
- Ensure that the sales channel has the supporting materials they need to win projects.
- Provide sales support (e.g. presentations, product demonstrations) on unreleased products for key accounts and critical project pursuits.
- Provide support for Emerson “internal events” (e.g. Emerson Exchange, Sales Training).
- Develop and submit papers for publication in process control and industry trade journals that will increase and enhance the market’s image of DeltaV as the "best-in-class" ASP process automation system.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- A four year degree is required.
- A minimum of 8 years experience in the application, design or implementation of process automation and control systems is required.
The following skills are required:
- A proven ability to assess market requirements, evaluate customer wants and needs, and identify opportunities to capture customer value.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. A demonstrated ability to develop and deliver successful customer presentation and demos, videos, whitepapers, brochures, blogs or other customer communications.
The following skills are desired:
- Experience with the development of new product introduction / promotion plans.
- Knowledge of industry recognized alarm management best practices and guidelines such as EEMUA 191 and HSE 166.
- Knowledge of intelligent device alert capabilities such as Fieldbus, HART, Profibus and DeviceNet.
- A proven ability to work in a team environment which requires a significant amount of cross-team coordination is required. A demonstrated ability to lead teams of individuals where there is no direct reporting relationship.
