Brief Description of Duties / Minimum Requirements: This position is located in Houston, TX or Austin, TX and relocation assistance is not available. Approximately 25-40% travel is expected, some international. The individual chosen for this job will provide control engineering services for Emerson Process Management's customers. These services include the ability to audit and troubleshoot current control strategies and control loop performance and provide control and tuning strategies to improve process performance. The individual will also create functional requirements for and implement Advanced Process Control.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Control Performance Execution
- Lead consulting assignments to audit customer process units to troubleshoot current control system, instrumentation and control valve performance
- Develop and document in written reports recommendation for improved control strategies, control loop performance through configuration modifications, new control loop tuning parameters, and/or measurement and control valve alterations.
- Communicate opportunities for Emerson Divisional product sales or service opportunities to appropriate sales organizations
Advanced Control Engineer
- Provide subject matter expertise to sales teams for Advanced Process Control (APC) pursuits
- Lead the design and implementation of APC projects for various processes
Technical Sales Support
- Work with Emerson Process Management sales channels to identify and pursue consulting engagements that lead to larger engagements for Emerson's divisions.
- Estimate costs and support proposal development for Advanced Automation studies and projects
- Support sales to potential customers through technical presentations including control performance and advanced process control capabilities
Marketing
- Assist marketing groups in generating marketing collateral – white papers, brochures, data sheets, etc. – that promote Emerson solutions and services
- Prepare and present technical papers on this subject at relevant technical conferences
- Publish and present papers and support Emerson participation at conferences and tradeshows
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- A strong background in process control applications with a minimum of ten years' of industry or plant experience.
- Understanding of basic control loop tuning principles and process control strategies
- Basic understanding of control valve and instrumentation fundamentals
- Familiarity with Advanced Process Control including the design and implementation of APC projects is desirable
- The ability to determine financial benefits through process control is desirable
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
