Brief Description of Duties / Minimum Requirements: This position is located in Austin, TX and relocation assistance is available. Approximately 50% international travel is expected; traveling on short notice and travel to under-developed countries must be acceptable.

Job Description:

  • Assistance in the establishment of a best cost Proposal Center of Excellence (PCoE), including hiring and management of proposal resources
  • Plan and coordinate resource allocations and budgets for the PCoE
  • Canvass all Emerson PSS World Area proposals teams for best practices and identify opportunities to continually improve the Project Management Office procedures
  • Ensure that all PCoE proposal development efforts are completed using Project Management Office processes and tools
  • Plan, coordinate, and develop select multi-faceted multi-million dollar proposals
  • Create and maintain proposal budgets in accordance with the proposal plan
  • Leads proposal kickoff meeting with the pursuit/proposal team to address proposal execution logistics
  • Oversee the development of the commercial offer, technical solutions, project execution plan, narrative, and contract terms
  • Coordinate buyouts with the procurement organization
  • Participates in development of Risk and Opportunity Assessments and Mitigation Reviews
  • Participates in man-hour estimate reviews
  • Ensure sales objectives are represented accurately and completely in proposals
  • Participates in proposal profitability reviews with Executives
  • Lead proposal handover to the project implementation team
  • Manages and updates proposal and reference databases, libraries, metrics, pricing tools, etc.
  • Support Marketing Rollouts and Emerson Initiatives; assist in generating marketing collateral, white papers, brochures, data sheets, presentations, etc., and special assignments as required
  • Provides technical support to pursuit and proposal teams including system architectures, hardware and software, interfaces to 3rd party systems, competitive intelligence, etc.; engages appropriate subject matter experts as necessary
  • Travel can be up to 50% international; traveling on short notice and travel to under-developed countries must be acceptable
  • Strong Spanish verbal and written language skills are preferred

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will have 10+ years of experience in Project Pursuit, Project Management, Proposal Lead and Contract Development & Negotiation
  • Knowledgeable in managing multi-faceted multi-million dollar proposals teams
  • Knowledgeable in all areas of proposal planning, management, and implementation.
  • Knowledgeable in all areas of project planning, management, and implementation.
  • Knowledgeable in control and safety systems, advanced applied technologies, 3rd party integration, and level 3 and 4 applications and interfaces
  • Knowledgeable in field instrumentation, metering, control and automated valves, and bus technologies
  • Must have strong consultative selling skills to address customer needs and frame solutions
  • Experience in competitive systems and solutions
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Effective people management and team leadership skills
  • Understanding of project risk, risk management, and mitigation
  • Reasonable knowledge of Oil and Gas, Refining, and Petro-Chemical Industries

Minimum Education Requirements:
BS Engineering or Comp Sci and 15 years of closely related experience
