Gas/Hydraulic Valve Actuators

GH Pic1 GH Pic2 GH Pic3

Introduction

Gas/Hydraulic Valve Actuators (often referred to as Gas over Oil type) use a high pressure gas supply (typically 300 to 1480 psig) as their power source. Often used in gas/transmission pipelines in which the pipeline media is used for the actuator's power source. Actuators are available in rotary (1/4 - turn) and linear versions and can be supplied with practically any required control system including remote control and linebreak systems.

Typical Applications

  • Valve operation in gas/transmission pipelines

Key Features

Rotary & Linear

  • Readily adaptable to all rising stem valves

  • Direct connection to valve stem

  • Standard temperature range from -50F(+65C). For other temperature requirements, consult factory

  • Materials of construction to suit process and ambient conditions

  • Adaptable to "NACE" trim valves (MR-01-75); suitable for operation with sour power gas on application

  • Piston with non-metallic wear ring to prevent piston/cylinder scuffing

  • Zero leakage piston and rod seals; material to suit application

  • Suitable for 1480 psig (102 barg) maximum working pressure for tank diameters NPS 8 or less; higher pressure on application

  • Suitable for 1450 psig (100 barg) maximum working pressure for tank diameters NPS 10 or greater; higher pressure on application

  • Complete control packages featuring rugged Bettis® poppet style relays to suit specific application

  • Full pressure control packages available for use where specifications disallow regulators

  • Manual pump for emergency operation

  • Manifold controls are fully enclosed and weather protected by lockable cover

  • Special locking valve maintains operator and valve in any desired position, and provides thermal relief protection

  • Thrust limiting devices available

  • Visual valve position indication

  • Convert pipeline gas pressure into a powerful hydraulically controlled thrust to open/close the valve

  • Readily adaptable for fail safe operation

  • Widely used in pipeline systems, critical production and process applications

  • Gas/Hydraulic and volume tanks are designed and constructed in our ASME certified facility to Section VIII DIV. 1, and CSA B51 or ASME certification and local regulatory approval can be provided

  • Petroleum hydraulic fluid is standard in all Bettis® gas/hydraulic systems (e.g. Esso Univis J13 or N22, Aeroshell Fluid 4). Other fluids, including biodegradable, available on request

Rotary

  • Scotch yoke design for high breakaway torque

  • Modular construction with six basic drive cases; cylinder trim to provide breakaway torque rating from 5,000 lb.in [565 N.m] or less to 6,000,000 lb.in [678,000 N.m]

  • Standard light weight cast aluminum drive cases are ideal for arctic or tropical temperatures and normal or sour environmental conditions. Optional ductile iron or cast steel drive cases are available for special applications. Quad Series 12Q and Series 12 operators have steel fabricated drive cases

  • Readily adaptable to all quarter-turn valves, 90 10 adjustable rotation standard, limited rotation available

  • Replaceable top and bottom yoke bearings

  • Piston with non-metalic wear ring to prevent piston/cylinder scuffing

  • Zero leakage piston and rod seals; material to suit application

  • Integral drive rod deflection stabilizers to absorb side loads

  • Suitable for 1480 psig [102 barg] maximum working pressure for Series 2, 3 and 6; higher pressure on application

  • Suitable for 1450 psig [100 barg] maximum working pressure for Series 7; higher pressure on application

  • Complete control packages featuring rugged Bettis® poppet style relays to suit specific application

  • Full pressure control packages available for use where specifications disallow regulators

  • Manual pump for emergency operation

  • Manifold controls are fully enclosed and weather protected by lockable cover

  • Gas/Hydraulic control system provides smooth power transmission

  • Torque limiting devices available

  • Visual valve position indication

  • Convert pipeline gas pressure into powerful hydraulically controlled torque to open and close the valve

  • Readily adaptable for fail safe operation

  • Gas/Hydraulic and volume tanks are designed and constructed in our ASME certified facility to Section VIII DIV. 1, and CSA B51 or ASME certifications and local regulatory approval can be provided

  • Petroleum hydraulic fluid is standard in all Bettis® gas/hydraulic systems (e.g. Esso Univis J13 or N22, Aeroshell Fluid 4). Other fluids, including biodegradable, available on request
