SafeVision Installation And Setting Instructions

Important Safety Procedures

BEFORE carrying out any form of maintenance on an actuated valve:
  • ALWAYS disconnect the Air and Electrical supplies.
  • Do not disassemble any actuator when pressurised.
  • When replacing any items, use only HYTORK® supplied components.

Fitting The SafeVision

  • Attach the proper mounting platform or mounting bracket to the SafeVision using the bolt and washer sets provided. When using Safemount mounting platforms, place the platform centrally along the base of the Safevision housing and secure the bolts for one of the bolt mounting patterns. -
  • The SM 80-20 platform will fit Hytork® actuator models with a 20mm high Namur pinion & the VDI/VDE 30mm x 80mm bolt pattern.
  • Operate the actuator to the fully closed position.
  • Attach the SafeVision and mounting platform/bracket to the actuator, locating the tang drive of the SafeVision drive shaft correctly in the slot on top of the actuator drive pinion.
  • Secure complete assembly using bolt and washer set provided.

Removing The Cover

CAUTION! TO PREVENT IGNITION OF HAZARDOUS ATMOSPHERES, KEEP UNIT TIGHTLY CLOSED WHEN IN OPERATION. DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY CIRCUIT BEFORE REMOVING COVER.
  • Unscrew the eight cover to base securing screws located around the SafeVision housing until all the threads are disengaged from the base assembly.
  • Lift the cover assembly, complete with visual indicator display, upwards and away.
  • The switches, terminal rail and switch setting cams are now fully exposed.

Important Wiring Installation

All electrical wiring must be completed in accordance with Local and National Electrical Standards and Codes. If the installation is in a hazardous area, all electrical leads must be sealed in accordance with relevant Electrical Code. Cable glands and cabling methods used in service must be certified and suitable for the type of protection specified. The proper wiring diagram for each unit is located inside the SafeVision housing. Please follow carefully. Ground (Earth) wiring should be secure under the grounding screw. Check that all wires are properly inserted into the terminal rail and ensure that all screws are tight.

Setting The Switches

  • Each switch has its own independent cam arrangement.
  • Lift the bottom cam against the spring to disengage it from the drive spline and turn it until the switch is activated. Once in the correct position, push the cam back on to the spline.
  • To set the other cam, operate the unit to the opposite end of its travel and adjust in the same manner.
  • Operate the unit fully in both directions several times to check that the switches are operating correctly.

Replacing The Cover

  • Confirm the final position of the actuator / valve.
  • Ensure that the visual indicator display coincides with the position of the valve and that the drive tang on the indicator drive shaft is in the same orientation as the slot on the switching drive shaft.
  • Replace the cover assembly with the two shafts engaged correctly and tighten the eight cover to base securing screws.
  • Operate the unit fully in both directions several times to check that the visual indicator is operating correctly.
  • If repositioning of the visual indicator display is required for orientation, unscrew the stop screw and rotate the outer cap anti-clockwise by 15 degrees. Lift the cap to remove it.
  • reset the indicator by lifting and repositioning on the drive shaft. Replace the outer cap and re-tighten the screw.
  • The SafeVision is now ready for operation.
